Halden Krog, senior photographer at the The Times in
Johannesburg in South Africa, was born in the city in
1974. He studied photography at the Vaal Triangle
Technikon in South Africa before setting off for the UK
where he spent several years freelancing as a
photographer covering major events such as post war
 Bosnia and the conflict in Israel. He returned to South
Africa in 1999 taking on a full-time position at the daily
newspaper Beeld in Johannesburg, becoming the chief
photographer before moving to The Times in 2007. Best known for his graphic news images Halden continues to document the ever changing news landscape that exists in South Africa.
